Pelvic floor physical therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of a number of conditions relating to the pelvic floor muscles, which are a group of muscles that sit in the crotch of your pants. These muscles help to control urination, bowel movements, sexual function and organ support. Pelvic floor muscles are an important piece of the core system which give our back, SI joint, and hips stability.
Pelvic floor physical therapy is similar to physical therapy for another body part that is injured or poorly functioning. Treatments can include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education in lifestyle and habit changes, and functional movement training.
Pelvic floor physical therapists have advanced and specialized training beyond entry level PT school to treat these types of issues.

Review the page on our website titled “Services”. This will give you a better idea of what symptoms Pelvic Wellness treats. If you are experiencing any one of these symptoms, you may benefit from Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.
If you are currently pregnant or have had a pregnancy, your pelvic floor has been affected. The pelvic floor muscles play a huge role in carrying and delivering a baby so this is a reason to be evaluated in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.
If you have seen a physical therapist in the past for pain near the back, hips or pelvis and have not gotten relief, you may also benefit from evaluation by a pelvic floor physical therapist, as we have additional training in muscles that help support and control these areas.
Lastly, we offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation to go over your symptoms and to determine if Pelvic Wellness is a good fit for you.

After scheduling, you will be emailed intake forms. Please complete these prior to your first appointment so your Physical Therapist can review this before your appointment.
When you arrive at your first visit, you will be taken to a private treatment room by your Physical Therapist where we will discuss in detail your medical history, current symptoms and limitations, and your treatment goals.
Your Physical Therapist will then complete a comprehensive examination, which includes a posture and movement analysis, as well as more specific examination depending on your unique case.
An optional internal pelvic floor muscle assessment might be completed either vaginally or rectally to determine the function of these muscles. This is only completed upon consent from you.
Your therapist will then discuss your findings from the examination and recommend a treatment plan based off of your individualized symptoms, findings and goals.

We strive to offer the highest quality of care to our patients. We choose to see all patients 1-on-1 for one hour at each session, which is not possible with rates of insurance reimbursement. In order to provide this quality of care, we have chosen to not contract with insurance companies. We accept payment at the time of service and can provide you with superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
We are happy to work with our patients to help determine a plan of care based on your circumstances.

You may be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance company based on your “out of network” benefits. If this is of interest to you, you can obtain information regarding your coverage by contacting your insurance company and requesting information regarding coverage for “out of network physical therapy”. We are also able to provide you with a superbill (itemized document) upon request, which has the necessary information to submit to your insurance company. Seeking and obtaining reimbursement for services is the sole responsibility of the patient.
